15 Super Women Uses for Jojoba Oil

15 Super Women Uses for Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is by far one ne of my favorite body products of all time; it’s incredible versitale for the whole family.

Here’s some tips I’ve found on getting the most out of your Jojoba Oil…

  1. Cuticle Oil – rub a drop on your hands and cuticles at least once per day. Option: Add a drop of Tea Tree Oil to your jojoba for a quick, all-natural anti-fungal nail treatment.
  2. Body Lotion – easy enough… just remember that a little goes a long way. You won’t need the dollop size you normally use with a traditional lotion. Jojoba sinks in super quickly and spreads across your skin easily. For even more fun or a special occasion, mix some cosmetic grade glitter with the oil and apply to your legs, arms and chest.
  3. Face Moisturizer – 1 to 2 drops is perfect for your face. Use after moisturizing. And… it’s PERFECT to apply under mineral makeup. You’ll look radiant and your minerals will perform so much better!
  4. Lip Oil – it’s light, natural and absorbs quickly removing all traces of flakes and the anti-oxidants will help keep aging at bay. Create your own unique lip oil in a small glass jar: add a few drops of your favorite flavoring (check the bakery aisle at your grocery) such as eucalyptus for minty freshness, strawberry or citrus oil for fruity flavor!
  5. Tame Flyaways – When you finish rubbing the jojoba into your nails and cuticles, rub your palms across the top of your hair to tame hair frizz!
  6. Makeup Remover – Mix half water and half jojoba in a small container (your free sample shampoo bottles will work perfectly for this). Shake before use, squeeze a bit onto a cotton pad and use to quickly and gently remove your eye makeup. As a bonus, the jojoba conditions eye lashes!
  7. Scalp Massage – or scalp treatment. Rub the oil into your scalp before bedtime and wash out in the morning.
  8. Quick Hot Oil Hair Treatment – Rub about 1 teaspoon of warmed oil through your hair when you first get into the shower. Let it sit while you shower. Rinse at the end of your shower, shampoo and condition as usual.
  9. Deep Hot Oil Treatment – Rub 1 tsp to 1 tablespoon of jojoba through your hair. Cover your head with a plastic shower cap or saran wrap. Let sit for 1-2 hours. Shampoo out and condition normally.
  10. Carrier Oil – White jojoba oil has anti-oxidant properties on its own; but it can also be applied overtop your other skin care treatments to ‘carry’ their active ingredients deep into your pores and skin.
  11. Split End Treatment – Add a drop or two of oil on ends of your hair as a split end treatment. Apply before blow drying or heat styling for protection.
  12. Added Moisture – Need more moisture during the winter or in a dry climate? Mix a few drops of jojoba to your normal body or face lotion application.
  13. Quick Hair Condition – Add 2-3 drops to your normal dose of hair conditioner. Mix in the palm of your hand, apply, and leave in while your shower. Rinse and you’ll have moisturized, shiny hair!
  14. Before Sunless Tanner – Apply lightly to elbows, knees, soles of feet, heels and palms to prevent extra sunless tanner from soaking into these porous areas.
  15. Before Swimming – Run 3-4 drops through your hair before diving in the pool or ocean. The oil will help close your hair cuticle and prevent harmful chemicals from stripping your color, and drying your locks.

Essential Oil Treatment for Hair Loss and Stimulation

The Study!

Patients were enrolled in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. One group received the following recipe: Lavender (3 drops, 108 mg), Rosemary (3 drops, 114 mg), and Cederwood (2 drops, 94 mg).

These oils were mixed in a carrier oil, which was a combination of jojoba, 3 ml, and grapeseed, 20 ml, oils ... The oils were massaged into the scalp for a minimum of 2 minutes. Patients were taught to massage the oil into the bare areas of their scalp for two minutes each evening and then wrap a warm towel around their head to enhance absorption. The placebo group used just the carrier oils. The results were impressive. Of those who applied aromatherapeutic oils, 44 percent had improvement after seven months, compared to 15 percent in the control group. At the beginning of the study, and again after three and seven months, professional photographs were taken of each patient’s scalp. Changes as seen in the photographs served as the primary outcome measure. Mapping and measuring of the bald patches was also done to determine results.

An impressive 44 percent of the group using the essential oils significantly improved. The average area of hair regrowth with the essential oils was 104 square centimeters, compared with nearly zero for those using the placebo. According to one intriguing photograph provided by the researchers, considerable hair regrowth occurred with one male patient who had both alopecia areata and severe male pattern hair loss.

These results show aromatherapy to be a safe and effective treatment for alopecia areata. The researchers were proud to have successfully applied an evidence-based method to an alternative therapy. Evidently, one or more of the essential oils is able to promote hair regrowth. And unlike standard medical therapies, the essential oils have a very low risk of side effects and are not nearly as costly.

How To Use Essential Oils for Hair Loss:

Add 2 drops of the essential oil either to the rinse water or to a good (Kasia Favorite) Jojoba  oil. Massage it well into the scalp. Wrap the hair in plastic wrap; place a warm towel around it. Leave it for 2 to 3 hours, or overnight. Shampoo the hair as usual, using a mild shampoo (avoid medicated shampoo), so that you do not damage the sebum balance.

Essential Oils for Stimulating Circulation and Improving the Hair Health

A blend of bay and lavender essential oils stimulates the scalp and helps hair health. Add six drops of each oil to four ounces of a warm carrier oil such as almond, soybean or sesame oil. Massage the mixture into the scalp and allow it to absorb for 20 minutes. Add three drops of bay essential oil to the shampoo you regularly uses and wash the hair with this shampoo.

Essential Oil Blend for Hair Growth - As described above.

1 Atlas cedarwood essential oil - 2 drops

2 Lavender essential oil -3 drops

3 Rosemary essential oil -3 drops

4 Jojoba oil - 4 teaspoons

Directions:  Add the first four ingredients into a small glass jar. Mix well. Now add the remaining two ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

Massage this mixture into your scalp for at least two minutes every night or 3 times per week.   Wrap your head in a warm towel after treatment.   Sleep with this overnight, and/or sit with a half-one hour on the scalp.  Follow with  Shampoo / Conditioner.

Why we LOVE Jojoba Oil and it's many uses...

We LOVE it!  Kasia Skin Proffesionals use jojoba in many ways for the skin and hair, as well as a carrier oil for our GM Certified Essential Oils!

Jojoba oil helps promote healing of the skin in many ways. It can actually discourage the growth of some bacterial and fungal microbes that attack the skin. The composition of jojoba closely resembles that of the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and rarely causes any reactions, even in the most sensitive individuals.

Jojoba oil is composed of liquid wax esters rather than oil, therefore leaving your skin less greasy than other carrier oils. The body’s natural sebum also contains wax esters, which act as a sort of natural moisturizer and environmental barrier for the skin. However, wax ester production steadily decreases with age, causing the skin to appear dull and emphasize wrinkles.

For this reason, Kasia Salon uses jojoba oil in our hair and skin services and retail options!

Jojoba oil can prevent the skin from becoming too oily. Because the structure of jojoba oil so closely resembles natural sebum, it can actually trick the skin into producing less natural sebum. Jojoba oil may help treat acne, both by reducing sebum production and by protecting the skin from harmful bacteria.

To control Acne

Many people are surprised by the fact that Jojoba Oil is used to treat acne because it is an oil. People automatically assume that oils will clog the pores and make acne worse, but because of the unique structure of Jojoba Oil, that does not occur when you use it. Studies have shown that Jojoba Oil can actually help to unblock the pores and also they can prevent further clogging later on. It only takes a couple of drops a day to help with your acne problem; however, it is mainly only suitable for mild acne.

As an eye makeup remover

Soak a cotton pad or ball, and swipe over your eye shadow, liner, and mascara. Not only will your eye makeup be gently and completely removed, you'll find your lashes lush and conditioned, too.

As a facial moisturizer

Because jojoba oil closely resembles human sebum, our skin accepts it very well without threat of breakouts or reactions. If you're oily or combination skinned and afraid of putting any oil on your face, rest easy. Jojoba oil actually helps to balance skin's sebum, so it moisturizes dry skins and eases the oil production in oily skin. Apply jojoba oil by mixing two drops of it in your moisturizer, or use it sparingly on its own.

As a lip conditioner

If you suffer from dry, chapped lips, a small amount of this can be used as an alternative to chapstick or more expensive lip balms.

As a cuticle oil

Say goodbye to dry, ragged cuticles. A small amount of jojoba oil, rubbed into the cuticles on a regular basis, helps keep them soft.

As a hair conditioner or serum

Mix a few drops into your conditioner and rinse out. You can also put a couple of drops on your palm and apply to the ends of damp hair before blow drying - a great trick for soft strands. Or if your hair is looking dull, or frizzy, a little jojoba oil on the ends will smooth out the cuticle, making it look shiny and healthy.

As a body oil

Perfect for skin, especially aging or menopausal skin as it replaces loss of aging skin's natural wax esters. Use it all over your body after a bath or shower. It sinks in quickly, but leaves your skin hydrated and moisturized -- not to mention luxurious when we add drops of our sweetest smelling essential oils.

Jojoba Oil Benefits for Hair

Our hair is often subject to abuse. When going to the salon to have the hair styled, permed, cut or colored, the hair strands are exposed to harsh chemicals which may damage your hair in the long run. Over-the-counter beauty shampoos, conditioners, styling gels and other hair products may also leave the hair dry, brittle and damaged. Even the simple act of combing or blow drying can lead to hair breakage and damage. To restore the natural texture, glow and luster of your hair, you can use deep conditioning products to minimize the damage caused by styling and harsh hair products that you actually pay more for. If you want to restore the health of you hair in a natural and healthy way, you can make use of natural oils, and put the glow back to your limp hair.

Just like our skin, the scalp also needs to be moisturized. When the skin is dry you can see visible wrinkles. The same thing happens when the scalp is dry – excessive skin develops in the affected area, causing itchy flakes to appear. The scalp is quite sensitive and it produces sebum where the hair follicles are implanted, which is the reason why the scalp needs extra care.

For healthy skin and hair, Jojoba Oil is found to be ideal and is derived from a natural plant. Jojoba oil is produced from a desert plant called Simmondsia Chinensis. Its oil is highly regarded as an effective conditioner, moisturizer, cleanser and softener for the skin and hair.

Jojoba oil brings the following benefits:

1. Moisturizes the scalp. Using Jojoba oil and massaging it directly onto the scalp will not only relax you but it also moisturizes the scalp itself while treating your hair with an intense conditioning.

2. Develops new hair cell growth. Dry hair can lead to hair damage or hair loss. The application of Jojoba oil will counteract this symptom, allowing the growth of new hair cells.

3. Jojoba oil is non-greasy, colorless and odorless. While application of oils directly on the hair can be very obvious from afar, using Jojoba oil is non-greasy and unnoticeable.

4. Jojoba oil is not irritating to the skin if applied to dry, itchy and sore scalp. Our scalp is sensitive when it is dry and applying Jojoba oil and then rinsing your scalp with clean water is one way of treating this scalp condition.

5. Antibacterial. Jojoba oil is used for treating sores, cuts, bruises and burns and helps heal scars.

6. Jojoba oil allows the flow of sebum in plugged-up pores. This promotes a healthy scalp and hair by replicating the sebum oil secreted by human sebaceous glands.

7. Jojoba oil conditions your hair and prevents it from being brittle and dull.

8. If there is too much sebum found on the scalp, Jojoba oil can dissolve and take out the sebum, allowing the hair to be cleansed.

9. It is used widely as a primary ingredient in hair shampoos and conditioners.

With these benefits and more, using Jojoba oil will definitely bring back the shine, luster, and natural beauty of your hair in an inexpensive and natural way.
