faux-bob-how-to.jpg

faux bob how to

Not prepared to chop off your locks? Fake it with a curling iron and hairpins instead. “Done” hairstyles of 2014 are the kind that move and tousle. Using the runways and red carpets as a reliable source for hair trends, 2014 goes retro.

The eras influencing fashion are influencing hair as well. The 20s give us bobs and finger waves, and the 60s inspire perfectly sculpted, yet elegantly simple ‘dos. A unique opportunity to don a structured style, the vintage faux bob is as modern as tomorrow.

To find out how to recreate the look for yourself, read the our full step-by-step how to guide.

step 1

Prep hair with smoothing serum, then curl ends under with a straightening iron to get desired shape.

step 2

Section crown of head up and clip into place. Leave underneath section down.

step 3

From the underneath section, take a smaller section of hair from the side at the front of the head, comb it back and pin it at the centre of the back of the head (the lower crown).

step 4

Repeat on the other side and pin at the centre of the back of the head.

step 5

Take out the top section and brush it back over the pinned section - secure each side of the edge of the crown with a hairpin – where you can feel the skull bone.

step 6

Create a circle with the ends of the hair by tucking them under and pinning them in place.

step 7

Loop all ends of hair under crafting a neat shape at the nape of the neck. The amount of looping depends on the length of your hair and on the desired length of your bob.

step 8

Hold look in place and keep it sculpted all day with a finish of strong hold hair spray.

Skin Care and Hormonal Balance 101

beauty-quotes-02.png

kasia_0037_HIGH-580x300

Understanding hormones and their effect on the skin, from the teenage years to perimenopause and menopause, is challenging for many skin care specialists. Journeying through the roller coaster with many clients can be rough sailing.

Understanding the prominent hormones in the body is essential in order to correctly diagnose, treat and prevent hormone related skin conditions. Estrogen and progesterone are the main partners in this delicate balancing act. Designed to work together as a team, when that balance leans more to one direction than the other, a whole host of problems occur.

Estrogen – is one of the most important hormones for women. Not only does it regulate a women’s reproductive cycle but is also can have very positive effects on the skin, but only if the levels are in balance. Estrogen can reduce the size and activity of the oil glands inside the pore; help tighten pores, influence how quickly cells divide in order to create strong collagen and elastin, help increase the hydration levels within the skin, and slow hair growth. Without estrogen, the skin ages quickly, this is why women see rapid changes in their skin as they enter menopause.

Hormone levels in the blood stream play a significant role in the skin rejuvenation practice as they affect the shedding of cells in the epidermis and the building of cells in the dermis.

Progesterone – named because it is involved in gestation or maturing of a fetus in the womb, stimulates a woman’s uterus and prepares the lining for a fertilized ovum. Progesterone also stops ovulation from occurring when pregnancy occurs.

Testosterone – usually thought of as only a male hormone but is produced in women as well at a much lower level.

DHEA – or dehydroepiandrosterone, is a sterone naturally produced by the body’s adrenal glands and is responsible for the production of every sex hormone, such as progesterone or testosterone, in the body. DHEA levels begin to rise during puberty and are at their highest at the end of the teenage years and early twenties, but the levels start to decrease quickly as the aging process continues, and by post menopause DHEA production is merely a fraction of what it was in a person’s late teens and early twenties.

Human Growth Hormone – is an endocrine hormone like estrogen or testosterone, produced in the pituitary gland and secreted throughout a person’s lifetime but rapidly decreasing as a person ages.

The teenage years, when puberty occurs, is when the body begins producing sex hormones which can radically affect the skin throughout life as the levels continue to fluctuate. Early to mid- adult life is characterized by outside hormonal influences, pregnancy and lifestyle factors that affect hormones. Then comes menopause, the time when hormones can wreck havoc on the skin during fluctuations. These hormonal changes that come about during aging are undeniable and inescapable, but they can be eased by a healthy lifestyle and newly emerging anti-aging treatments

Where it all begins: The Teenage Years

Hormones are responsible for the maturation of the oil glands in our skin. This is why children do not experience acne. There are several times in our lives when hormones can become unbalanced and wreak havoc, including puberty, pregnancy and menopause. Hormones fluctuate, and the skin is influenced tremendously by these shifts. The menstrual cycle, which begins at puberty, plays a role in shifting hormone levels. The increase in progesterone prior to a women’s period can easily cause breakouts as male androgen hormone increase sebum activity in the sebaceous gland. The acne flare subsides after the onset of menstruation and the woman’s body moves into the beginning of another menstrual cycle.

beauty-

Estrogen-dominant women have few acne breakouts during puberty. They continue, throughout most of their child rearing years, with relatively clear skin, unless something occurs that alters the hormonal balance. However, androgen (a male sex hormone) dominant women can suffer from full-blown acne during puberty, may suffer with excess facial and body hair, and be more prone to oily skin which may be the cause of breakouts and skin issues.

Many teenagers struggle with acne due to their changing hormones. To achieve the best possible results for young skin the face needs to be kept clean, hands need to be washed frequently and kept away from the face. Oil-free cosmetics like foundation, blush and moisturizing products that do not cause blocked pores should be used.

Mild glycolic (alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugarcane increases desquamation to refine, lighten and brighten the skins surface) and salicylic acid (a natural anti-bacterial derived from wintergreen exfoliates superficial skin cell layers to accelerate the removal of hyperpigmented brown and red skin discoloration) products should be used. Clarifying cleansers and toners containing these acids should be used in the morning, at bedtime and after heavy exercise. Most sun damage that presents itself during the later stages in life is actually due to sun exposure during the teenage years so an SPF15 or higher sunscreen should be applied daily to help avoid acne breakouts and hyperpigmentation. Even oily-skin types need to use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning and a light anti-bacterial moisturizer in the evening after cleansing to protect from surface dehydration.

The best approximate age to start a professional skin health regime is 13 or 14 years old. By this age, young adults know the importance of hygiene. By devoting a few extra minutes each day to a complete skin care routine, teens can gently ease through these erratic hormonal years with confidence.

Stuck in the Middle: The Mid-Life Skin Care

During early to mid-adulthood, a women’s body is producing skin-enhancing estrogen. If a woman’s estrogen levels are balanced, her oil production will be less and her skin elasticity will be enhanced. But around the age of 40, a woman’s estrogen levels begin to decline.

Like estrogen, anti–aging hormones, such as DHEA or human growth hormone (HGH), are at a peak during your early adulthood but begin to fall as aging progresses.

The natural aging process can cause a woman’s hormone levels to decrease but a woman’s lifestyle can also play a big role in hormonal imbalance. In this middle portion of a woman’s life she may be stressed, be receiving external forms of estrogen, be taking birth control or even be struggling with the middle age bulge, which can all affect your hormonal levels, and in turn affect the skin.

The androgen hormone testosterone is produced in a women’s adrenal gland and androgen- dominant females may have enlarged oil glands that produce excessive sebum, or oil. While androgen- dominant females may suffer from acne due to excessive oil during puberty or the teen years, factors during this stage of a women’s life, such as birth control pills and stress, can stimulate the androgens and can even cause hair growth on the face. However, these women can begin to notice a reduction in oil production as they progress in age.

As we age, there is a deceleration of cell renewal in the dermis contributed to by hormone levels in the blood stream.

The Last Stage: Menopause

Skin Care and the Hormonal Balance

Menopause brings on many symptoms in a women’s body internally, but the main place we visibly see the results of the changes is the skin. The body’s essential hormones are lacking,or missing altogether, during this stage in life and it is important to take extra care of the skin, the body’s largest organ, at this time.

During menopause, a stage in a woman’s life when the ovaries begin to produce less estrogen, skin may begin to suffer from dryness, loss of elasticity and previous abuses of the skin (smoking, lifestyle, sun damage) begin to expose themselves.

Not only will the body start producing less estrogen, it will slow down on the production of collagen and elastin as well. The women, who were estrogen-dominant in their teenage and early adulthood years, usually become more androgen-influenced.These women who escaped their early years without acne breakouts may start breaking out during this phase in life. Rosacea can also come about for these women at this stage. Without estrogen, the skin ages quickly, this is why women see rapid changes in their skin as they enter menopause.

Estrogen Replacement Therapy (ERT) is sometimes prescribed by a doctor to battle some symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes; however, there are side effects which present themselves in the skin including rosacea, cherry angiomas or appearance of blood vessels. But, ERT can also help by adding moisture to the skin, reducing skin wrinkling and protecting against skin conditions characterized by this age group and menopause. Women who receive hormonal therapy could see greater skin thickness than women who go untreated, and atrophy of the skin cells may be prevented by using an ERT. Estrogen Replacement Therapy is not recommended to everyone and does have some negative side effects so it is important to consult your doctor before using this Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Post-menopausal skin care can guard against the typical skin symptoms of this stage. A women’s daily regime should include the use of a non-oily, low foaming cleanser to protect the skin from drying. After cleansing, a non-alcoholic toner should be applied to balance the pH level of the skin followed by sun protection, retinol and or peptide serum and moisturizer. An exfoliator and mask for weekly skin conditioning maintenance is also recommended.

Cosmeceutical Ingredients Effective in the Treatment of Aging Skin

GLYCOLIC ACID POLYMER – Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane that increases desquamation to refine the skins surface.

L-ASCORBIC ACID – The most effective aqueous topical vitamin C to prevent premature aging.

LACTIC ACID – An alternative to glycolic acid derived from sour milk increases cellular desquamation for sensitive and aging skin.

L-RETINOL – A pro-drug that can be converted to retinoic acid by the skin to promote the normalization of epithelial desquamation reducing cellular cohesion.

MATRIXYL 3000 TM PALMITOYL OLIGOPEPTIDE, PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-7 – Derived from fatty acids synthesis collagen and fibronectan reducing wrinkle density and volume.

BLACK CURRANT SEED OIL – Essential fatty acid anti-oxidants with skin hydrating benefits.

The Natural Shampoo Debate in Short: What Is - What is Not

Did you know?  The shampoo bar from LUSH contains sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient we try to avoid at all costs (sulfates are a controversial chemical ingredient in the beauty world, and of course the obvious - they’re too harsh on your hair).

Can Any Shampoo Really Be “Natural?”

The short answer? No. Unless you go the no-shampoo route, there’s really no way that any shampoo can be completely natural, organic, or free of preservatives. That’s because shampoo is mainly water-based. Add in organic ingredients like oils and flower extracts, and without some kind of preserving agent, the shampoo will go bad quickly. I assume you would not want a outdated and moldy bottle of shampoo.  Beware: many “natural” shampoos still contain a laundry list of chemical ingredients whose names you can barely pronounce.

Our objective at Kasia is to be as natural and safe as possible.  The beauty/personal care industry is multi-billion dollar industry and is filled with toxic chemicals that could be avoided.

Kasia Organic Salon is a leading natural salon and is an HONEST example of setting the tone for businesses to do the right thing (in our eyes) by ridding the proven toxic ingredients out of a hair, skin, and body care products.  We are able to meet our guests requests, but it's so much more - our clients bring their hair and skin back to balance and health.  We partner with those that are on the journey of health + beauty ....this is a long process, not a guilt trip.

kasia shampoo natural

Hurdle:  Many guests want to use natural shampoos, but that they’re also loath to use ones that don’t lather. Standard, conventionally-made shampoo has foaming agents (sulfates, usually) to create that bubbly lather you see in all the shampoo commercials. Often, when a person switches to a cleansing product with less lather, they’re disappointed. Many times the lather really has no effect on cleaning your hair, but to make sure we give the best of both ingredient safety and a great consumer experience, we combine coconut and sugar to create a lovely bubbly.

What To Avoid

Kasia Organic Salon does not use products with sulfates (these usually come in four varieties: sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfat

hair.

e (SLES), ammonium lauryl sulfate, and ammonium laureth sulfate), phthalates, methyl parabens, or ingredients derived from petroleum products (look for ”-PEG,” “-xynol,” “ceteareth” and “oleth” in the endings of the ingredient names).

In 2014, Kasia will be outsourcing to a new and more local custom lab and chemist to make our ingredients even "cleaner" and more effective. There’s no regulation of skin and haircare products. You can call your product organic and no one is really looking into whether that is legitimate or not.

New Years Resolution: Goodbye Dullness! (details inside - what to avoid)

1453474_10152027407930929_49957187_n.jpg

As we get older, the rate of skin-cell turnover starts to slow and the pace at which these cells are shed isn't the same all over your face.  Cells in the T-zone where there are more oil-glands tend to get replaced faster than the skin on the sides of your face.

Add in winter woes and the result?

Dull, dry skin that reflects light unevenly.

WHAT TO AVOID:  EXCESSIVE EXFOLIATION & CHEMICAL PEELS

Excessive exfoliation and chemical peels are extremely common answers in the skincare industry to every problem from fine lines, scarring, acne, and hyperpigmentation.  They are born from the idea that the skin needs help with cellular renewal and regeneration.  When we apply acid or excessive exfoliation to the top layers of the epidermis, we are forcing the process of epidermal turnover which interferes with the skin's natural ability to function, causing inflammation and the underlying dermis to divert is valuable resources towards repairing and restoring the compromised upper layer of skin.

YOUR SOLUTIONS:

Nourish your Skin ~  Just like the rest of the body, the skin needs certain nutrients to function efficiently.  If it doesn't receive them, it will go into survival mode just as if you are dieting and cut calories too dramatically.  When the skin doesn't get the nutrients it needs, it is forced to prioritize.

The skin must choose between fully repairing the skin or slowing down the natural exfoliation cycle (think about a bear going into hibernation).  The result - without the proper nutrients, the skin is allowed to thin.

The most beneficial ingredients do one of three things; increase circulation (the skin’s only source of food/nutrients/immune cells/building block materials), ReNew-Exfoliating-Cleanser-199x300stimulate fibroblast activity (the only way to make collagen, elastin, GAG’s needed to rebuild/repair the skin), and provide antioxidants to help neutralize the 24-hr a day attack on our cells from free radicals. To try:  Renew AHA + Vitamin C Exfoliating Cleanser

Gentle Exfoliation ~  While you never want to force exfoliation or exfoliate too often, there are products designed to help your skin carefully break apart the clusters of dead skin cells safely and without irritation or inflammation to the skin.  To try:  soPure Clarifying Mask

Nourish your BodyDrink plenty of water and take in a sufficient quantity of antioxidants to nourish your skin from the inside-out.

Some to try:

Vitamin C This well-known vitamin is essential to collagen production, protects your skin from UV damage and helps scars heal. Eat:  Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly citrus fruit such as lemons, oranges and grapefruit, kiwi, cabbage and parsley.

Green+Apple+Juice+

Vitamin A Vitamin A is the most important vitamin for healthy, radiant skin and also protects against UV damage. Eat: Liver, eggs, butter, and brightly-coloured fruit and vegetables such as mangos, melons, peppers, and carrots.

Vitamin E Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant with a great ability to repair sun damage.  It traps aging free radicals and acts in harmony with Vitamin A and Vitamin C to protect cell membranes, which are the main target of free radicals. Eat: Nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds, whole grains, cereals and vegetable/plant oils.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) Vitamin B3 is crucial in your body's ability to produce energy, metabolize fats, and repair DNA.  Eat: Fish such as swordfish, salmon, and tuna,  beets and green vegetables such as brussels sprouts,  spinach and broccoli.

Detox and Optimize your Liver (7 reasons and 3 awesome recipes inside!)

Beet-Juice-1.jpg

Hey Informed Beaute!

Did you know that if you're suffering from a hormonal imbalance, skin problems like acne or eczema, or even if you're feeling more fatigued than usual, this is a sign that your liver needs some love.

Your liver is a control center for detox pathways in the body.

It's constantly filtering out excess toxins, working with the kidney's to detox dangerous chemicals you breathe in from the air, and consume from food and water.

Detox and Optimize your Liver

Your liver is one of the hardest working organs in your body. Responsible for over 500 functions, your liver performs essential roles in your metabolism, your immune system, your digestive system and your detoxification system.

The liver is most commonly known as the bodies main detox organ.  The liver filters every single quart of blood you have meaning that it is working all day and all night to protect your body from the damage that toxins can do to you.

Your liver is also responsible for filtering and processing all of your hormones. If your liver is not functioning properly it can lead to hormonal imbalances such as excess estrogens, faulty insulin production and more. If you are dealing with any kind of hormonal imbalance focusing some attention on your liver is essential

Liver Detoxification

The liver detoxes your body in two phases:

Phase 1: In phase one, the liver will take a toxin and convert it into a less harmful toxin through either oxidation, reduction or hydrolysis. Simply put, the liver makes something that was once very toxic into something that is less toxic through a chemical reaction. This process does create other toxic byproducts that need to be neutralized through the ingestion of anti-oxidants and in phase two detox.

Phase 2:  In phase two the liver attaches a buffer molecule to the toxin which makes it less toxic still. The toxin is then processed so that it becomes water-soluble which means that the body can now easily excrete it through the urine. Most toxins begin their journey in a fat soluble state which is very hard for the body to excrete.

Both phase one and phase two liver detox must be working optimally and in tandem for safe detoxification to happen. If you are not eating adequate nutrients, if either of the phases is working at a faster pace than the other phase or if you are over loading your system with toxins, you may run into troubles.

7 Reasons You May Need To Detox Your Liver

1. Eating a Diet Rich In Saturated and Processed Fats: If you are eating a lot of processed foods that contain processed fats (think margarine, canola oil, corn oil and peanut oil), fried foods, or lots of non organic animal foods your liver will be working over time. That is because these foods all need to be processed by the liver and they are hard to break down and digest.  They also produce lots of toxic byproducts when being digested.

2. Eating A Diet Rich In Processed Carbohydrates: In the same way that processed fats can over tax the liver, processed carbohydrate foods like white breads, white pastas, sugary drinks and candies all demand extra effort from your liver to keep your blood sugar levels stable as well as to remove the toxic substances these foods contain. Eating a processed carbohydrate rich diet will mean your liver is working over time.

3. Drinking Alcohol or Taking Prescription Medication: The liver has to filter every single substance you ingest, and alcohol and drugs are some of the hardest for it to filter. Consuming too many of these substances over a period of time can lead to liver damage, and even fatty liver or cirrhosis of the liver. These substances can actually inhibit the proper functioning of your liver, making them extra toxic.

4. Breathing Polluted Air: The air you breath can be amazing and pure, or stagnant and full of pollutants. If you are living in a city and are exposed to car exhaust, air conditioner, cleaning products, second-hand smoke (or first hand smoke), and other industrial byproducts your liver may need a boost. All of the toxins you breath in through your lungs must run through your liver to be processed. This means that toxic air can lead to an over loaded liver.

5. Not Getting Enough Sleep and Rest: In order for the liver to perform optimally, you need to be getting enough sleep. The liver is most active between the hours of 1 and 3 am. If you are consistently not getting to bed early enough so that you are in a deep sleep by the time the liver kicks in it is possible that it is not getting the time and space it needs to do its job properly. Adequate rest is essential for a healthy, optimally functioning liver.

6. Over Exercising: This one may surprise you, but did you know that working out causes the production of free radicals? Now, this is not to say that you should not work out in order to avoid free radical production. On the contrary, getting adequate activity is essential for pumping your blood and your lymph so that they move through the liver more efficiently which supports the detox process. However when you are over working yourself you will start to over produce free radicals that the liver may not have the resources to properly deal with in a timely matter. If you have been over training it is possible that you need to take a break and give a little love to your liver.

7. Eating A Nutrient Poor Diet Overall: As mentioned in the description of the liver above, both phases of liver detox reply upon essential nutrients to facilitate their function. For example phase one relies upon a steady supply of Vitamin C, folic acid, Vitamin B3 and B6 and Vitamin E, just to name a few.  Phase two requires that you are ingesting plenty of sources of essential amino acids like Glycine and Taurine, as well as Calcium. If you have been eating a diet that is low in nutrition (ie a diet rich in processed foods, or a diet that is just not providing you with adequate food and calories overall) you may need to detox your liver because there is a chance that it will be over run with toxins that it was not able to deal with due to the lack of nutrients.

Bitters: Bitters will help your liver to produce bile, an essential function in the digestion of fats. These herbs can help to support overall liver function.

Burdock Root: Burdock root is an extremely bitter root that is a powerful blood purifier. This will help to support your liver in its blood filtering work.

Dandelion Root: Dandelion root works to support the cleansing of the liver.

Milk Thistle: Milk thistle can work to cleanse and repair the liver tissues. This is most likely the most common of the liver supporting herbs.

Optimize, Repolarize and Detoxify with Polar Mins! (One of our best kept secrets inside)

Optimize your beautiful health with Polar Mins!

This is one of my favorite "little secrets" to optimizing both the value of nutrition, and your very own health internally and externally.  Learn more about Polar Mins, and the easy - key assets it brings to your every day life.

Main Benefits:

  • Polar Mins detoxifies and repolarizes raw, uncooked fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and other raw foods.

  • Helps to remove harmful pesticide residues.

  • Helps with rapid repolarization of your body.

  •   A Geomagnetic, Colloidal Ocean Mineral Concentrate from the South Pole.

  • polar mins  The most complete, electrochemically charged and trace element mineral tonic in the world

  •     A rich, natural and highly concentrated source of all minerals and trace elements from the deep, pristine Southern Ocean near Antarctica

  •     100:1 concentrate: 1 gallon of Polar Mins is equal to the minerals found in 100 gallons of ocean water

  •     Derived by a proprietary sun-evaporation process from ultra-pure Antarctic-originated water; over 97% of the salt (NaCl) has been removed, leaving a pure, highly ionized mineral concentrate

  •     Natural, ionized minerals are the most easily absorbed and are necessary for literally all body functions as well as efficient, deep-seated detoxification *

  •     Excellent as a mineral spray to detoxify and repolarize food

  •     A highly electrically charged mineral concentrate for whole body super-health and wellbeing *

The Origin of Polar Mins

The Southern Ocean surrounding the South Pole. Polar Mins come from one of the purest, most uncontaminated oceans on earth, the Southern Ocean, located near the South Magnetic Pole - the point on the Earth's surface where the geomagnetic field lines are directed vertically upwards - producing unusually excellent mineral ionization.

The highly ionized minerals in Polar Mins assist in breaking down chemical accumulation within the body. These same minerals are also easily absorbed by cells and aids in hydration and flushing out toxins. Only a small amount in a glass of drinking water is needed to deliver these ionized minerals.

How to Detoxify and Re-polarize Food

To detoxify and repolarize raw, uncooked fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and other raw foods, fill a spray bottle with 90% purified water and 10% Polar Mins by volume. Shake a few times to mix the ingredients. For each individual food item (such as a tomato, apple, or banana), spray over approximately 4 times, wait 30 seconds and rinse before eating.  For other produce like collard greens and broccoli, spray the simages-1tems or roots in addition to spraying the entire food item, wait for 30 seconds and rinse thoroughly. When soaking nuts, grains, and legumes, add a few drops to the soak water. Make sure to rinse thoroughly.

Since a raw food item is still in a living state, the Polar Mins spray acts as an excellent electrochemical "foliar feed," supplying badly needed ionized minerals to detoxify any toxic components of the food as well as allowing the food item to absorb highly beneficial minerals which helps create electromagnetically superior "structured water" inside its cells. This procedure is excellent even for organic foods which are still typically deficient in mineral content (as compared to optimal mineral levels).

Dermal Mist

The Polar Mins Spray may also be used to "mist" skin areas on the body such as the arms, legs, face, head, hair, etc. Just as raw foods are able to absorb ionized minerals, human skin can easily absorb them as well. Use 1 to 4 sprays at a time on various body areas (spray directly on bare skin) as an excellent energy boost or to supply ionized minerals to specific body areas. To avoid unnecessary detoxification, allow some time between misting (if more than 4 sprays are used).

Keeping Your Plants Healthy

House plants love Polar Mins! For enhanced, more luxuriant plant growth (inside or out), either water them with a 10% solution of Polar Mins once a month or spray them frequently. Plants need ionized minerals, too!

The Phosphate Dilemma

Food grown on land that has been treated with commercial forms of acid-treated phosphates do not incorporate the phosphate into its molecular structure, but instead, trap the phosphate in a free form. In contrast, natural electrochemical colloids (as found in sea minerals) prevent this effect, so the phosphate can be properly arranged within its molecule.

When people eat commercial foods grown with excessive amounts of acid-treated phosphates, they excrete a high percentage in their urine. In contrast, foods grown with colloidal phosphate have a balanced phosphate structure in their cells; when people eat these foods, the body will conserve them and not need to dump them out in the urine. People who go on high levels of raw foods that have been grown on soils treated with acid-treated phosphate will begin to have health concerns with their water balance, creating artificial dehydration.

This is one of the main reasons for steaming or boiling commercially grown vegetables and grains. The heating process releases trapped free phosphates which would be harmful, yet leaves good colloid phosphates already in place to be active when consumed. It is best to throw out the leftover water from steaming or boiling commercial produce because it will be high in free phosphates.

Worldwide research (from Popp, Korzykski, LeBon, Picardi, Sckwenk) has demonstrated the importance of electrochemical compound colloids. Researcher Albert Popp of Germany found that the structure of water is determined by minute quantities of electrochemical compound colloids. The structuring of water in body fluids can enhance or detract from the transmission of blueprint information to DNA. If the water in body fluids is more structured (and therefore will have a higher surface electrical charge), it will have a higher energy potential. This means the water, through the effect of the electrochemical colloids, will be able to transport energy (such as heat, electromagnetic energies) at much higher, more efficient levels in and out of cells - in short, increased cellular energy and function.

Sea minerals are very high in electrochemical compound colloids so when consumed, the body can function at much higher efficiency. Polar Mins are an unusually excellent source of the full spectrum of sea minerals from the deep, pristine sea near Antarctica so they deliver a superior source of colloids for immediate use by the body's cells.
